FAQ

What kinds of projects are members working on?

Members are pursuing serious creative work across a wide range of disciplines. Some are writing novels or screenplays. Others are building media ventures, publishing essays, filming documentaries, or preparing for gallery exhibitions. The field is secondary. What matters is devotion to the work.

I'm not a writer, can I still apply?

Yes. While the Society was founded by writers, we welcome serious creatives from any field. Architects, filmmakers, designers, composers, sculptors, and others are all encouraged to apply. What matters most is your commitment to a specific creative project.

How old are your members?

Our youngest members are in their 30’s, while our oldest are in their 60’s. But age is not the unifying factor here. What binds our community is a shared ethic of radical open-mindedness. If you’re uncomfortable around people from different generations, you are probably not a good fit for The Rosedale Society.

What is the space like?

We meet in a cozy 1943 bungalow designed for creative work. Inside, you’ll find desks for deep focus and large communal tables for conversation and debate. The space is bright, quiet, and lined with windows that open onto a lush garden filled with tropical plants. Complimentary coffee, wine, beer, liquor, and snacks are always available. It is a perfect sanctuary for serious creatives.

Where is the space located?

The Society is located in the Rosedale neighborhood of Austin, Texas. We’re about one mile from First Light Books, or a two-minute drive from MoPac.

What are the hours?

Each member of The Rosedale Society will be given a unique door code. This will grant them 24/7 access to the space.

May I tour the space before joining?

No. To protect the focus and privacy of our members, we do not offer tours.

Can I bring a guest?

No. The Rosedale Society is a private and carefully curated community. Guests are not permitted.

Can I take meetings or Zoom calls in the space?

No. Phone calls and video calls are not allowed. We have designed the space for focused, in-person, creative work. In addition to no calls, we do not allow any computer monitor sets ups in the space.

What is the Membership Commitment Fee?

This is a one-time fee paid upon acceptance. It reflects both your commitment and your contribution to the long-term vision of the Society.

How many members are there?

We do not share personal or demographic information about our members, and we do not reveal cohort size. What we can say is that you may find yourself alone in the space on a quiet Tuesday morning, and surrounded by brilliant minds at a lively dinner party by Saturday night.

How long will my application be under review?

Application review times vary based on cohort size and current availability. Most applicants can expect a review period of two to sixteen weeks.
